Working primarily with photography, In-chan Lee creates images by constructing environments in which marginalized human subjects and beings beyond the human gaze can find expression and emerge. His practice focuses on collaborations with children in elementary school, transformations of natural objects and places revealed through changes in photosensitive materials conventionally regarded as errors, and the possibility for fixed images surrounding historical events to emerge differently through the intervention of machines and algorithms. Interaction arising from collaboration, material transformation, and technological intervention forms a central methodology in his practice. In this process, photography functions as a field in which different beings, materials, and technologies affect one another, form relationships, and allow otherwise obscured presences to find expression.

 Lee received his MFA in Photography and Video from Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Arts. He held the solo exhibition Invisible Light – Beyond the Line at Damjaengi Gallery, Seohak Art Village Library (2024), and has participated in group exhibitions including Void at Gallery The C (2025), Hidden Textures, Revealed Resonance at Gunpo Culture & Arts Center (2025), Meta Sight at Chungmuro Gallery (2025), and Transition at KP Gallery (2024). Lee was selected for Outstanding Portfolio at the 2025 Daegu Photo Biennale and received the Outstanding Portfolio Award at the 2023 Jeonju International Photo Festival’s Free Speech Exhibition. He was also selected for the Gunpo Cultural Foundation’s Young Artist Support Program in 2025 and the Geumcheon Cultural Foundation’s Local Artist Support Program in 2024. His work is held in the collection of Gyeonggi Art Storage, Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation.
